Talk & Film Night: 11.29.23

We welcome invited speaker, Angélica Romines, an indigenous social scientist currently pursuing a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Oklahoma State University. Angélica’s talk will focus on understanding the complexities of identifying as indigenous with Q&A. (Zoom link available upon registration)

Following the talk, we will show a short film called “Chasing Voices” directed by Daniel Golding with popcorn to snack on!

Announcing Dr. Valdivia as Chapter co-advisor

We are also ecstatic to announce our newest SACNAS Chapter co-advisor: Dr. Raphael Valdivia!

Dr. Valdivia is a native of Peru and a Professor of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology running an internationally recognized research program on host-microbe interactions. Dr. Valdivia is finishing his term as Vice Dean for Basic Science, where he had oversight of biomedical graduate eduction & core facilities and provided overall support for all science programs. As he returns to the regular ranks of the faculty, he is looking forward to working with Duke SACNAS as a faculty co-advisor alongside Dr. Sherilynn Black.
