Dr. Buckland describes how his research and clinical methods are informed by his dual training in Medicine and Engineering and a brief overview of how DACTL could impact the medical needs of exploration.
Siobhan visited SPARK camp run by Durham Public Schools to talk about Medical Robotics and the design process. SPARK Camp is for rising 4th – 8th grade AIG identified students and this session focussed on making a robotic hand.
Discussing the Design process of ideation, prototype, test and iterate.
Siobhan Oca attended the International Symposium on Medical Robotics (ISMR), preceded by the Spring School on Medical Robotics (SSMR). ISMR/SSMR are conferences for medical roboticists and physicians to discuss challenges and solutions to topics including medical imaging, mechanical steering systems, and exoskeletons. Siobhan presented the poster “Challenges in Autonomous IV Insertion” and had an awesome time meeting leaders in the field, participating in workshops on IP and medical imaging, and learning more about the opportunities for discovery in the field.
