In the Yildirim lab, we study two related areas of research using mammalian systems and aim to understand:
1. Epigenetic mechanisms regulated by long ncRNAs: their regulatory roles in gene expression, genome stability and cell fate decisions.
2. Nuclear structure: its role in gene expression and genome function.
We utilize genetic, cell biological, imaging, and genomics tools using mouse stem cells and mouse models to answer these questions and delineate how these processes impact disease state and cancer.
OPEN POSITIONS:
Graduate Students:
Koc MSc, PhD and MD/PhD students are encouraged to e-mail Dr. Eda Yildirim to discuss rotation opportunities and thesis projects.

Postdoctoral position
September 4, 2024
A postdoctoral position is available in the Yildirim lab located at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics of Koc University in Istanbul, Turkey. We are looking for highly motivated and talented applicants who are interested in research involving noncoding RNA mediated epigenetic mechanisms and/or spatial organization of gene expression in mammalian systems, and the role of these processes in disease and cancer. The applicant should hold a PhD or MD/PhD (recent graduates are encouraged to apply), and have a strong training in genetics, molecular biology, cell biology, developmental biology or epigenetics. Expertise in chromatin biology, stem cell biology, imaging techniques, mouse genetics, and bioinformatics are strongly desired. It is also essential that the candidates have strong first author publication histories. Interested applicants should email their CV and a 1-page cover letter (describing their past accomplishments, research interests and career goals) along with names and contact information of three references to edyildirim@ku.edu.tr
