      2020

        • Son identified the third calcium binding site in TMEM16A and demonstrated how calcium binding to this site remotely regulates TMEM16A gating.  This works has been accepted by Cell Reports. Congratulations! 12/20

        • Son Le and coworkers discovered the structural basis of TMEM16A channel desensitization. Son not only verified PIP2 is the key factor for TMEM16A desensitization, identified a putative PIP2 binding site, but also discovered a modular design of the TMEM16A ion permeation pore, which consists of two relatively independent modules: the Ca2+ binding module is dedicated to Ca2+ activation and the regulatory module is responsible for PIP2 regulation. The work was published in Nat. Commun. Good job. Congrats! 08/2019.
