Please review the notes below before preparing your application to the Summer STEM Academy in order to improve your chances of being considered fully.

Duke Summer STEM Academy Flyer
- Eligibility
- Rising juniors and seniors in high school
- At least 15 year old before the start of the program
- You can apply if you plan on living in the Triangle during the summer
- No restrictions on which school you attend
- Recommendation Letters
- Select two people who know you in the classroom or laboratory setting
- Your references will be asked questions related to your work ethic, curiosity, academic performance, character, and professionalism
- Essay
- Your essay is a reflection of yourself and should address why you think this program is your next step in your personal and professional development
- Transcript Submission
- An unofficial transcript (e.g. pdf from your school account, screenshot or scan will suffice)
- Include ALL years in high school
- Application Deadline (approximate dates)
- January 15: application process opens
- March 15: first round of admission decisions will be sent out
- May 15: We will continue to consider applications if seats are available until this date
- The application portal will close once all seats are reserved

Lunch and snacks are provided during this program.
Transportation
The Summer STEM Academy is a commuter program.
We do not provide transportation or reimburse parking fees.
Fees
Fees for this 3-week program will be waived for all participants.
