We are always interested in recruiting talented postdocs and PhD students to the lab. Even in times when we do not have a position open, you never know about the possibilities of creating one. So if you would like to join our lab and is excited about our scientific questions, do inquire!
Through and through, it has been quite a couple of years. But I am happy to say that we learned how to manage a pandemic to the best of our ability, and we are now counting our blessings and successes. Our PhD students passed their preliminary exams, our undergrads graduated, we published papers (check out our publications), and engaged in many outreach and equity efforts to make academia a better place for all of us.
In the past year, our lab was also awarded a major NIH grant (NIGMS R35 MIRA), which will support our projects on redox control of translation for the next 5 years. We are recruiting students and we do have a postdoc position open. So please inquire, apply, and share this ad with qualified candidates.

Many exciting things are happening in the Silva lab, so stay tuned and follow us on twitter! And below is a picture of our last annual retreat this August, which included science, strategic planning discussion, a visit to Duke’s Lemur Center and a walk in the Duke Gardens! Great times! (we need to photoshop it to include our undergrads!!)
