Many congratulations to our undergraduate student Sofia Guerrero who was named (early in April!) a 2023 scholar by the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation Program!
Sofia joined our lab as a 1st year student, participated in the B-SURF research program for rising sophomore and is currently a senior majoring in neuroscience with a minor in computer science. Sofia’s project focuses on understanding how the enzyme Rad6 regulates mitochondria and cellular physiology under stress.
The scholarship is a national competition that supports talented students who intend to obtain a Ph.D. and go on to pursue a research career in the sciences, mathematics, and engineering.
