Hi! My name is Samantha Cohen, and I’m a senior at Duke University majoring in Cultural Anthropology with minors in Biology and Chemistry. I wanted to become a Help Desk Volunteer because I’m passionate about addressing the social and structural factors that impact patients’ access to care. Through my experiences as an EMT and a Member Advocate with the Community Empowerment Fund, I’ve learned the importance of compassion, communication, and resource navigation in supporting community well-being and equitable health outcomes. I’m excited to deepen my understanding of healthcare systems while helping connect patients to the support they need. In the next few years, I hope to pursue a career in medicine where I can integrate both clinical care and sociocultural awareness. Outside of volunteering, I enjoy spending time outdoors and slowly working my way through my TBR list.
