Initially, I joined Help Desk out of a desire to make a tangible difference in patients’ lives. As a college student, opportunities for direct patient engagement are limited, but Help Desk has provided me a platform to meaningfully contribute to addressing social inequities. Without a doubt, Help Desk has shaped my time at Duke, reminding me the profound impact of connection and support in the face of health challenges—an idea that will persist far beyond my time as a volunteer
