NEIL NIMMAGADDA

Recruitment and Training Chair, Neuroscience (B.S.), Class of 2027

My name is Neil Nimmagadda (he/him), a member of the Class of 2027 majoring in Neuroscience. Working as a Help Desk Community Resource Navigator has been an amazing experience. Since joining Duke, I’ve wanted to find a way to serve the population of Durham just as I had back home as a way to give back to the community. I began working with Help Desk during the fall semester of my sophomore year and have had a great experience corresponding with local patients needing assistance with social determinants of health beyond the hospital environment. Throughout my experience, other Community Resources Navigators and I have had to deal with both successes and challenges in providing patients with helpful resources, especially challenges finding resources to address specific needs such as bill assistance. With this in mind, I joined Help Desk leadership not only to help recruit enthusiastic members to serve local patients, but also to have the opportunity to work with Help Desk Leadership to potentially devise a way to facilitate resource sharing between all Help Desk members. As the Recruitment and Training Chair, I aim to invite driven, enthusiastic individuals to join our hardworking team of Community Resource Navigators, and I hope to facilitate a smooth transition as much as possible by working with Help Desk leadership to identify ways to enhance the Community Resource Navigator experience.
