As a student at Duke, I have dedicated time studying the scientific mechanisms of illness and the biological responses that characterize human health. However, as I began volunteering with Duke Med-based organization Root Causes, I discovered both the significance and impact the socioeconomic factors of health play in healthcare. Through Help Desk, I seek to help the more vulnerable populations of Durham while learning about all of the components of healthcare that contribute to patient care. As an aspiring physician, I hope to use the knowledge and skills I gained from Help Desk to provide the most comprehensive care for every patient in the future.
