GENE MOON
Program Coordinator 2020-2022, Neuroscience (B.S.), Class of 2022
For the past couple years at Duke, through my classes and experience serving in the Durham community, I came to understand that the United States healthcare system is far from perfect. I hope to one day contribute to making our healthcare more accessible to the community and more efficient. I also came to understand that social factors are just as important to the community’s health as the medical care itself. I believe an emphasis on social factors will play a large role in improving the quality of our healthcare system in the future. Through my experiences on the Help Desk team, I hope to gain a greater understanding of the social resources that are available in the Durham community and how members of the community use and access these resources. I am looking forward to helping the community and using this experience to help me become a better physician and a person.
