I’ve been a Help Desk volunteer for 2 years and I’ve grown a greater appreciation for the ways that the Emergency Department serves as an open door to our community. While Help Desk works to support patients and their families, we can also learn from the experiences of those who come to the ED and continuously grow our capacity to support patients. As ED site coordinator, I am excited to engage with community members and to help find more efficient ways to bridge the gap between North Carolina resources and patients in our community with the greatest need.
