Help Desk has been one of the most life-changing experiences I have had during my time at Duke. The value that community-resource navigation brings to so many underserved communities is truly priceless, and the impact I have seen during my two years volunteering has been profound. The social determinants of health are grossly neglected and misunderstood; in my time as program coordinator, I hope to strengthen our community alignment, improve the efficacy of our program, and cement our partnerships with ongoing changes in health policy. A well-served community is a healthy community, and Help Desk is ready to serve.
