My name is Maria Baez and I am a senior at Duke University, majoring in philosophy and minoring in neuroscience. I’m excited for the opportunity to work with the Help Desk as a community resource navigator to connect with the people of Durham and see the unique health challenges they face. Through this experience, I hope to learn more about the social determinants of health and aid in this effort by Duke students to address health issues at the root causes. I hope to take these important lessons into my time in medical school and to a future career as a physician. Outside of academics, I enjoy running, reading novels, and playing the piano.
