Lauren Hew, MOT, OTR/L, served as Duke University Hospital’s 2020-2021 Acute and Critical Care Occupational Therapy Fellow. While in this role, she presented a Duke Grand Rounds discussing and proposing an acute and critical care simulation lab for facilitating safe hands-on patient handling experiences. She received her Master’s Degree in occupational therapy from the University of Florida and practiced in Shands/UF Health’s general medicine, burn ICU, and medical ICU and stepdown units. While in Florida, she also worked as a teaching assistant/lab instructor for both a NeuroAnatomy and a Musculoskeletal Anatomy Lab at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. She currently works in Duke’s Medical ICU and serves as a mentor for the fellowship program.
