As the DUHS PT/OT acute inpatient manager, Dr. McCotter oversees a team of over 110+ people that includes physical therapists, occupational therapists, therapy aides, mobility aides and administrative staff in the largest physical therapy and occupational therapy department in North Carolina. She graduated from Winston-Salem State University with her Master’s Degree in physical therapy and then graduated from the University of North Carolina with her Doctor of Physical Therapy a few years later. She currently serves as the co-coordinator of one of the few physical therapy orthopedic residency programs in the nation that offers an acute inpatient module. She previously worked as the physical therapy coordinator of orthopedics, trauma, wound care and whole organ transplant units. She also worked on the units as the primary physical therapist specializing in spine & total joint replacements prior to transitioning to the coordinator position. She has also been an adjunct professor at East Carolina University’s Physical Therapy School where she taught neurorehabilitation.
