Dr. Reid Medlin lives in Durham, NC, and works full-time at Duke University Hospital as the primary therapist in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU). He has helped adjunct and co-lead the Cardiopulmonary courses for numerous DPT programs, including Hawai’i Pacific University, Duke University, UNC-Chapel Hill, Baylor University, and Tufts University Boston. 

Dr. Medlin has worked in the acute care setting since graduating from PT school in 2015 and has had the opportunity to work in numerous ICUs including the medical, surgical, and cardiothoracic ICUs. He was an integral part of creating Duke hospital’s COVID rehab protocol and has spent many hours rehabilitating acutely ill patients with COVID. He serves as the Preceptor of Education for the Rehabilitation departments within the Duke University Hospital system, helping to onboard new employees and students during their time at Duke. 

He is most passionate about patients living with heart failure and is involved in two ongoing research trials aimed at this specific population. When not working, you can likely find Dr. Medlin in the gym, spending time with his 2 nephews and spoiling his adopted rescue pup Frisky.
