Project managers often ask whether they should consider pursuing formal project management certification. The initial certification process requires a financial investment and a significant time investment, and maintaining the certification requires an ongoing investment. During this seminar, we will discuss certification options, including the popular Project Management Professional (PMPĀ®) certification. We will also discuss the benefits of obtaining certification and factors to consider when making the decision on whether to pursue certification.

About the Speaker:

Lynn Sutton, PMPĀ®, is Assistant Dean for Clinical Research Initiatives and Alliances in the Duke School of Medicine. She works closely with the Vice Dean of Clinical Research and other executive leaders to implement institutional initiatives in clinical research across the School of Medicine. Ms. Sutton earned both a Master of Science in Geology and a Master of Arts in Education in Science Education from East Carolina University in 1994. She discovered her penchant for project management when working as a geologist for an environmental science consulting company. She used her project management skills to move into a clinical research organization, and she now has more than 25 years of program and project management experience in academic medicine and pharmaceutical research and development. Ms. Sutton will share information on the value of project management certification.
