Orthopaedics Welcomes Dr. Karl Schweitzer!
Duke Orthopaedics is excited to welcome Dr. Karl Schweitzer, a new faculty hire who will begin working with our Foot & Ankle Section in September of 2014. Dr. Schweitzer was born and raised in Mechanicsburg, PA where he spent much time working on his family’s horse farm and competing in equestrian show jumping events on the weekends. His undergraduate education was completed at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA where he studied chemistry and math, and rowed lightweight crew. He subsequently attended Jefferson Medical College and recently completed his residency work at Duke earlier this summer. Dr. Schweitzer and his wife, Samantha, will be spending the next year in Charlotte, NC as he completes a Foot & Ankle Fellowship at OrthoCarolina. He is grateful for the careful guidance, teaching and mentoring provided by Drs. Nunley, Hardaker, Easley, Bologensi, and Stanley (to name a few!) who helped him learn how to care for patients in the clinic and operating room. Welcome Dr. Schewitzer!
