Program Structure and Timeline
The NP Entrepreneur Program is structured to provide working NPs a program rich in business development and leadership content. Participants will be presented with best practices, new perspectives, and innovative tools by renowned interdisciplinary experts from Duke University, NPBO™ and other entities across the nation. This 12-month entrepreneur program promotes a lifelong network of health profession leaders to support and reinforce each other’s efforts during and beyond the training year.
The program’s diverse activities build business acumen and leadership capacity and are designed to be engaging educational experiences while still accommodating professional-personal life demands. Participants may earn professional continuing education units for participation in select program activities. Eligible activities will be advertised as such in advance of the activity date.
Leadership Retreats: Twice a year, participants will convene for a multi-day, on-site retreat where they will participate in business and leadership development sessions, engage in group and individual exercises, and network with fellow NPs and NP business owners.
Web-conferences: Three times a year, participants will gather for weekend web-conferences. Participants will engage in virtual business and leadership development sessions with industry leaders. While virtual, participants will engage in interactive and robust group and individual exercises.
Entrepreneur Salons: Monthly, participants will meet via Zoom with a small group of NPs within the program. Each meeting will be led by a salon mentor that will offer guidance, feedback and encouragement throughout all stages of the business development process. Participants will also partake in peer-to-peer feedback with one another during these meetings.
Consultative Panels: Once a year, participants will participate mid-year in a 3-hour session, in which they will present their healthcare enterprise idea and business plan to peers, coaches and faculty for feedback.
Individual Executive Coaching: Throughout the year, participants are strongly encouraged to engage in one-on-one leadership coaching with a PhD trained, nationally certified executive coach to focus on self-discovery, goal setting and strategic action on topics of their choice.
NPBO™ Membership: Throughout the year, participants will receive a NPBO™ private community membership during the program year. That membership will allow participants to receive access to live monthly marketing and troubleshooting sessions, monthly group coaching circles, access to a resource content library, private networking with other NPBO members and more!
Self-Directed Learning Modules & Webinars: Participants will be offered monthly distance-based online learning activities that supplement the program’s focus on leadership and business training. Some sessions will be live webinars while other sessions will involve asynchronous, self-directed activities. A portion of these distance education sessions will provide an opportunity to earn continuing education hours for participation.
