Sam Salcedo (she/her) is from New York, NY, and went to the University of Pennsylvania. She graduated with a degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics as well as in Cinema & Media Studies in 2025. She was a research assistant for a UPenn Law professor in 2025 and interned with CNN in 2024. Outside of LALSA, Sam is also the event planner of the Veterans Assistance Project and the 2L rep of First Class.

Maria Yepez Delgado (she/her) Maria Yepez Delgado is from Miami, Florida and graduated from Colgate University. After college, she joined Teach For America as a 2022 Corps Member and continued working in youth services before coming to Duke Law. At Duke, Maria is involved with the Duke Immigrant and Refugee Project, where she has assisted with naturalization clinics serving Spanish-speaking community members. She was also selected as a 2026 McMillan Fellow with the Mecklenburg County Bar.
Maria is excited to help continue building LALSA as a welcoming community and support system for Latine students at Duke Law.

Kaylee Ruiz (she/her) is originally from Miami, FL. She attended New York University, where she studied Public Policy with minors in History and Politics. Before law school, Kaylee worked as a Clinical Research Coordinator at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, where she helped coordinate a large-scale breast cancer screening research study. At Duke, she is also involved with the Duke Bar Association and Florida Club. Kaylee is excited to serve as LALSA’s Vice President of Communications and help strengthen the organization’s outreach, visibility, and connection with the broader Duke Law community.

Ignacio Colon-Cordero (he/him) is originally from Puerto Rico. He attended Northeastern University, where he studied business administration with a focus on finance and data science. While at Northeastern, Ignacio was actively involved in the university’s Student Government Association, including serving as Parliamentarian. At Duke, he continues to build on his interests in law, business, and public service. Ignacio is excited to serve as LALSA’s Vice President of External Affairs and help strengthen LALSA’s relationships with alumni, attorneys, and the broader Latino legal community

Daniel “Danny” Limas (he/him) is from San Diego, California. Before coming to Duke, Daniel gained legal experience through positions with Aguirre & Severson, LLP. At Duke, he has remained involved in public service, including volunteering with Legal Aid of North Carolina through the Lawyer on the Line program. Daniel is excited to serve as LALSA’s Vice President of Internal Affairs and help foster a strong, welcoming community for Latine law students at Duke.

Michael Mardones (he/him) is a Cuban-American who grew up in Bradenton, Florida. He attended the University of South Florida, where he studied Political Science and served as News Editor of the university’s student newspaper. After graduating in 2022, Michael worked at a local law firm in his hometown while also building a startup with friends from college. He later moved to New York City, where he worked as a paralegal and gained exposure to the big law and venture capital ecosystems. At Duke, Michael is also involved in the Technology Society. Michael is excited to serve as LALSA’s Vice President of Finance and help support the organization’s programming and continued growth.

VICE PRESIDENT OF PRO BONO AND PUBLIC INTEREST
Sabrina Abreu (she/her) is originally from New York, NY. She attended Boston University, where she earned a master’s degree in Political Science and held several leadership and research roles, including serving as Chair of 16k Strong within the Boston University Student Government. Before law school, Sabrina also gained experience in government relations and public affairs at Ventry Associates. At Duke, she is involved with the Human Rights Pro Bono Project, Street Law Pro Bono Project, Women of Color Collective, and Women Law Students Association. She is also an active volunteer with the ACLU and the West Side Campaign Against Hunger. Sabrina is excited to serve as LALSA’s Vice President of Pro Bono & Public Interest and help connect members with meaningful opportunities to serve the community and pursue public interest work.

James Gordon Watt (he/him) is originally from Miami, FL. He attended Wake Forest University, where he earned a master’s degree in management with a specialization in finance. Before law school, James worked in financial consulting and later spent several years with Suzuki Motor Corporation in business management, sales, and financial administration, including work involving government and international sales. James is excited to serve as LALSA’s Vice President of Professional Development and help connect members with attorneys, alumni, and professional opportunities throughout the legal community.

Clara Calavia Sarnago (she/her) is from Soria, Spain and Miami, Florida. She attended the University of Florida, where she studied International Studies with a focus on Europe and Economics. At Duke, Clara is pursuing a J.D./LL.M. in International and Comparative Law and is also involved with the Women Law Students Association, where she has served as Co-President. During her 1L summer, Clara worked as a Summer Associate at Pinheiro Neto Advogados in São Paulo, Brazil, gaining experience with the firm’s M&A and Sports Law teams, before participating in the Duke-Leiden Institute in Global and Transnational Law in The Hague. Clara is excited to serve as LALSA’s 3L Representative and help support and mentor LALSA members as they navigate their time at Duke Law.
