Group Leader

Prof. Myung-Joong Hwang (Google Scholar, Scholars@Duke, Email)

Myung-Joong Hwang is a tenured Associate Professor of Physics at Duke Kunshan University in China and an Associate Professor of the Practice at Duke University in the United States. His research focuses on uncovering novel quantum phenomena and designing controlled quantum systems across superconducting qubit platforms, trapped-ion systems, hybrid quantum systems, and atomic, molecular, and optical (AMO) systems, with the goal of enabling next-generation quantum technologies such as quantum computing and quantum sensing. Dr. Hwang received his B.Sc. and Ph.D. in physics from Pohang University of Science and Technology, South Korea. Before joining Duke Kunshan University, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Theoretical Physics at Ulm University, Germany.
