About the course: In antiquity, Homer was not a poet, but the poet (ὁ ποιητής). Τhis course is all about learning to read and appreciate Homer in the original Greek. Our focus will be Homer’s Iliad.

About the instructor: William A. Johnson is Professor of Classical Studies at Duke, with a range of specialities that includes ancient books and readers, ancient music, literary papyrology, and early Greek historiography.
