SSG is a consulting firm working with software companies and tech-focused investors to advise on growth strategy initiatives. This involves evaluating tech-focused markets as well as a company’s product capabilities, R&D organization, technical architecture, and cloud strategy.

What is this job?

You will be responsible for supporting our high-throughput protein production and purification platform. You will join the Synthesis team to execute automated workflows, perform scaled-down tests of new protocols, and maintain our laboratory hardware. Your role will be a combination of molecular biology, programming, and hardware engineering, weighted according to your background and interests. We encourage applicants from a broad spectrum of science and engineering disciplines, and plan to invest heavily in training you to quickly increase your autonomy and responsibilities. Who are you?

You have a B.S., M.S., or equivalent experience in a science or engineering field (1+ years of research or industry experience is preferred)

You are familiar with most standard molecular biology workflows, including PCR, plasmid design, cloning, and protein expression and purification

You have previous coding experience or are excited to learn (fluency in Python is preferred)

You are comfortable operating and troubleshooting laboratory hardware (direct experience with liquid handling robots is preferred)

What will you do?

Run day-to-day operation of our automated platform for high-throughput protein production and purification

Test new molecular biology techniques at the bench and adapt them for integration into our automated workflows

Write scripts in our liquid handler control software to execute new protocols

Plan and implement improvements to our standard workflows to optimize throughput, speed, and reliability

Meticulously execute experiments, document laboratory procedures, and analyze, present, and interpret data

What is this job?

You will be responsible for using our in-house antibody libraries to rapidly generate diverse binders to a variety of antigens. You will re-invent and optimize established display and screening protocols to improve speed, throughput, and reliability. In addition, you will help automate and scale optimized protocols to conduct hundreds of simultaneous screening experiments. This is a unique position for someone with experience in display technologies who is excited to innovate and push the limits of screening speed and scalability. You are comfortable with downstream processing and analysis of screening data (fluency in Python is preferred)

Screen Telis antibody libraries against diverse antigens

Critically rethink and optimize every step of the screening process—from library construction to hit identification—with an eye towards unprecedented speed to binder generation

Work with the Automation team to automate and scale up optimized display protocols

Work with the Bioinformatics team to build a deep understanding of screening dynamics through NGS analysis

You will be responsible for developing and optimizing biophysical, biochemical, and cell-based assays to analyze our engineered proteins. You will plan, budget, implement, and validate novel assays and lead downstream data collection, analysis, and interpretation. The assays you develop will form a core part of our engineering process and will be integrated into our automated, high-throughput platform. This position is ideal for someone with extensive experience in assay development who is ready to take the speed, throughput, and reliability of antibody characterization to a whole new level. Who are you?

You have a Ph.D. or equivalent accomplishments in biochemistry, biology, biophysics, or a related field (2+ years of industry experience is preferred)

You have a strong track record of designing, implementing, and optimizing assays for protein or peptide characterization (experience with both arrayed and pooled assay formats is preferred)

You are comfortable with mammalian cell-culture and have run cell-based assays using a variety of readouts (e.g. luminescence and fluorescence-based reporters, FRET/BRET, AlphaScreen or AlphaLISA, label-free assays)

You are familiar with common biophysical methods for screening/analyzing protein therapeutics (e.g. SPR, BLI, MST, DSF, DLS, CIC)

You have experience with programmatic processing, analysis, and interpretation of assay data (fluency in Python is preferred)
