ATTENTION MAC USERS:  Due to lasting compatibility issues, some animations imbedded in ppt might not run properly on some Mac OS versions of PowerPoint (this primarily affects transparency colors). Some Mac users might also experience incompatibilities with some image files embedded in the presentations.

Test Slide

To test whether you are affected by compatibility issues, download and open the TEST SLIDE on the left. If you can see a little avatar and message, you are fine. If you see a red box instead, your version of Mac PPT does not recognize transparency colors. See here for possible solution.  These directions might not apply to your version of Mac ppt.  Search for “How to set Transparency Color” in your HELP menu.  Just for good measure, some Mac ppt versions simply refuse to read, render, or alter (even manually) the transparency of a layer made on a PC.  Complain here.

The slides are available in three different formats: AS USED IN CLASS (animations intact, multi-layering, best viewed in slide mode), FLATTENED (animations turned into static images, multi-layering removed, can be viewed in slide mode and normal work mode), and as a PDF file.  Choose and click on the icons below to download (routed through Duke Box requiring Duke login and password).

Lecture Multimedia Recordings.— As this is an asynchronous course, my lectures are available as multimedia presentations, to be viewed through Duke Warpwire.  The links below will take you to each lecture automatically.  PLEASE NOTE:  These multimedia recordings are for STREAMING only.  You cannot and may not download them.  Recording them while streaming, using a third-party program, is a violation of copyright.  DO NOT RECORD THESE LECTURES.   I am VERY SERIOUS about this.  I will use all the powers of the law and the university to pursue any violations.  IF, for whatever reason, you are in need of an actual copy of a presentation, please contact me, and we can find a solution for you.  

I reserve the right to update these slides shortly before lecture.  I will let you know if a new version (other than the version posted previously) is available, in class.
