A picture is worth a thousand words, and each word is worth … well, a word. A thousandth of a picture?
But what about sound? Sometimes the best way to share a story is with music, or tone of voice, or the sound of a crowd murmuring across a field. We’ve been gathering sounds like that for about a year. We have asked graduating Duke students what frightened them and shared a story we heard from an alumna in response to one of our features. We’ve checked in with members of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee and with the retiring director of the Chapel choir, and we’ve heard Duke Hospital residents play football and the campus celebrate the inauguration of President Price. Listen away!
And if you have ideas for sounds you’d like to hear? Well, leave a comment. Send us an email at dukemag@duke.edu. Or just go to your phone and press 919-684-2863. Tell us a story and maybe we’ll share it.
