COEE Team Members

The COEE team is a dynamic team comprised of community-facing patient navigators, program managers, and analysts led by Dr. Tomi Akinyemiju, Professor of Population Health Sciences and Associate Director for COEE since 2021. The DCI Community Outreach, Engagement, and Equity (COEE) program facilitates bi-directional engagement of 7 DCI research programs, 12 Disease Groups and 5 Interdisciplinary Centers in addressing catchment area (CA) priorities through inreach, such as community engagement training, COEE pilot grants, community scientist roundtable panels, as well as continuous monitoring of cancer burden in the CA. COEE also promotes sustained engagement and support of cancer-related health needs in diverse CA communities through outreach via community partnerships including cancer screening, health fairs, community health ambassadors, and community-facing patient navigation.
