Kristine Lister

Kristine is a second year Master of Environmental student concentrating in Terrestrial and Freshwater Environments and Environmental Economics and Policy with a career focus on financing and resourcing protected areas to achieve conservation outcomes. Through her Master’s Project with the Ocean Synthesis Lab, Kristine is exploring barriers and solutions to finance and staffing gaps proposed by Marine Protected Area managers and stakeholders in protected area management effectiveness evaluations. Kristine is currently interning with the Conservation Finance Alliance in publishing guidance on financing protected areas with the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s World Commission on Protected Areas and developing a framework for nature stewardship certificates. Kristine previously worked as a Research Associate at the World Resources Institute, where she led machine learning based research projects for Global Forest Watch and in open data platform management and development for the Data Lab. She holds a B.S. in Operations Research and Information Engineering from Cornell University in 2018.
