Larry Frauen

 Facilities Manager / Director

Larry has been in aquaculture for over 15 years. He has worked with multiple species of fish, shellfish and algae in commercial, conservation and biomedical disciplines. He received his BS in marine biology from the University of Maine at Machias. He has been with the zebrafish core since 2017.

Growing up in Florida, I have been fascinated with animals and the ocean since I was little. I received my bachelor’s degree in Zoology from the University of Florida and have worked all over the U.S. before eventually settling here in Durham. I love learning about different species and their unique behaviors. I hope to continue to learn throughout my career and be a part of research conservation projects in the future. Outside of work, I enjoy reading, traveling and any activity that’s outdoors!
