Jim has been working with fish for over 14 years. He received a BS in marine biology from Waynesburg University and a Masters in Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences from the University of Florida. He is a certified Aquaculture and Fish Health Specialist and former President of the Zebrafish Husbandry Association. Jim has managed the Duke Z-Core facilities since 2008.
Assistant Facilities Manager
Shane graduated from the University of Kansas in 2012 with a degree in Environmental Science and went on to pursue his Master of Science in Fisheries Biology and Management from James Cook University, Australia. After graduating in December 2014, he accepted a Laboratory Manager position for the Fisheries, Ecology and Aquatic Sciences Laboratory at North Carolina State University in the Department of Applied Ecology. He joined the Zebrafish Core Facility as the assistant manager in October 2016.
Zak joined the Z-Core in December 2014 as the primary technician for the Downtown Facility.
Brandylyn joined the Z-Core staff in January 2016 as a technician.
Rebecca joined the Z-Core in May 2016 as the primary technician for the CARL Facility.
Nicolette earned her B.S. in Aquaculture at Florida Institute of Technology. Originally from Florida, she joined the Z-Core in June 2016 as a technician moving from Maine where she was a shellfish hatchery technician. Nicolette’s interests included fishing, diving, traveling, gardening, public outreach and education.
