Clare gives UPGG Tuesday Seminar

Clare gave an excellent Tuesday Seminar for the University Program in Genetics & Genomics!

Her talk, entitled “Host-pathogen genetic interactions underlie susceptibility to tuberculosis”, was a great opportunity to discuss future projects and the underlying visions of Smith Lab at Duke!

Genetic variation in both the host and pathogen underlies outcome to infection. In the Smith Lab, we take systems genetics approaches that combine host and pathogen diversity to define the specific host-pathogen interactions that alter susceptibility to tuberculosis. By understanding how these interactions drive immunity, new host-pathogen paired therapeutics and vaccines can be rationally designed.

We are currently recruiting a research technician and a postdoctoral fellow to join the team.
