Barbara Phillips

Barbara C. Phillips, APRN, GNP, FNP-BC, FAANP is the founder and owner of Nurse Practitioner Business Owner (NPBO™), an online education, coaching, and consulting company dedicated to empowering Nurse Practitioners (NPs). A pioneer in teaching NPs about business ownership in the United States, Barbara has specialized in “The Business of Being a Nurse Practitioner” since 2007, offering courses and programs that guide NPs through every phase of business, including ideation, startup, operations, and growth.

Barbara has been a sought-after speaker at state, regional, and national NP organizations, sharing her expertise on business topics relevant to both entrepreneurial and employed NPs. Her contributions to the field were recognized in 2013 when she was inducted as a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

From 2016 to 2023, Barbara served in various roles with the Duke-Johnson & Johnson Nurse Leadership Program, including Advisory Board Member, Project Coach, speaker, and Consultative Panel member. Barbara’s academic journey began with a Gerontological Nurse Practitioner certificate, followed by a Master’s degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Washington in Seattle.

 

PAM MAXSON

Pam Maxson, PhD, MCC is a Master Certified executive and leadership coach, trainer/facilitator, Chief of Staff and Strategy, and author. Pam has coached hundreds of health care practitioners and partners with them to think creatively, lead, and motivate and encourage others to thrive personally and professionally. In addition to coaching, Pam has taught at Duke University for almost 30 years and worked in organizational and administrative leadership for over 15 years. Pam is the founder of Periscope Coaching, where clients use a new lens to lead and live.
