At its core, the MEMS Department believes that engineering is a profession dedicated to serving society broadly and is founded on the values that Duke University cherishes and celebrates.  Our activities are all guided by our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Community efforts which make every community member responsible and accountable to each other.

From solving global grand challenges to local community outreach and enrichment programs, MEMS is actively charting a new course on what it means to be a responsible, ethical engineer and global citizen.

If you are a new student in our department and want to get involved in these worthwhile programs, research projects, and service activities, please explore the many opportunities available to you below.  Getting involved will help you apply what you learn in the classroom to help make the world a better place for others.
