Compromise

Compromise

I loved our visit with Catherine Flowers. Although it wasn’t the main point of her talk, what resonated with me was that she decided to still do the talk to honor her coworkers death. Among her talk what was really powerful was the way she addressed spreading awareness about climate change and the issues surrounding its impact. For me the biggest issue I think that this nation and world has is denying the facts. People are in denial that global climate change is not only a idea but it happening today. Today in November 3rd and it was 80 degrees. Growing up 10 years ago I would have been bundled up in a heavy bubble jacket not wearing shorts and a t-shirt.

If people cant see the facts through experience, Catherine Flowers suggested finding a situation or experience in which you can relate to the individual in which is being spoken too. It is hard to argue with someone who is stuck in the way they view the world or thinks about situation. Finding common ground changes the way in which we shall design natures future. Arguments that can not be decided result in compromise. When we design the future a common ground about what needs to be changed needs to be found. This is not for the citizens of the world but more for the politics of the world. Just like in the United States, supposedly, everything has two sides. In order to please both sides the side that believes climate change is not real needs to find a place that they feel comfortable agreeing with the facts that are presented to them. All of this so policy is implemented and the design for the future can become a reality.
