Measuring Public Opinion (POLSCI 704-01)
W   10:05 AM-12:05 PM
F       2:00 PM-3:00 PM

This course will serve as an introduction to methodologies for measuring public opinion, with a primary focus on survey research methods (including survey experiments). The course uses the total survey error framework to introduce concepts and principles necessary to design a reliable and valid survey questionnaire. We will consider how methodological issues can affect the substantive conclusions made about the nature and dynamics of public opinion. The course is both a reading course on survey design and a practicum on collecting and analyzing survey data.
