Overview of Program Faculty & Training Program

The training program will continue to be organized along thematic tracks (Tracks I-IV) that reflect the breadth of hematologic research, including Transfusion Medicine & Hemoglobinopathies (Track I), Hemostasis/Thrombosis & Vascular Biology (Track II), Hematopoiesis & Cellular Therapies (Track III) and Molecular Hematology (Track IV).  Each track identifies faculty whose primary research (basic/translational/clinical) falls within the subject area of the track, with some faculty members being listed on more than one track, depending on their research.  In addition to grouping faculty by research, training tracks also provide information on research conferences relevant to the discipline (s) and additional instructional resources.  Members of the Executive Committee serve as track leaders in their area of expertise to review candidate applications and assess trainee research progress at monthly meetings.  Thus, these tracks allow trainees to readily define the landscape essential for their career development, from identifying research faculty within a field of interest to the scientific environment supporting their research.  As described below, trainees also participate in interdisciplinary interactions that occur between faculty members within and across the training tracks through Hematology Research Seminars and Research in Progress Meetings.
