About Us

Contributors  This collection of histories and stories from French-speaking community members living in Durham has been compiled by Duke undergraduate students in the following courses:

  • French 325: “Issues in Global Displacement” (Fall 2014, Professor Reisinger)
  • French 321: “Business and Culture in the Francophone World” (Spring 2015, Professor Reisinger)

Our Objectives  In collecting and sharing these stories, we aim to:

  • share demographics, mapping, photos, and personal stories of Durham residents
  • provide educational resources for curricular development at Duke University, in Durham Public Schools, and within Durham communities
  • promote interaction and communication between and among communities
  • increase awareness of French and Francophone businesses, support networks, and community diversity
  • link to other projects that have relevant content to increase access to resources
