No, it does not.  Duke EGA is a student-led organization that is separate from Duke admissions for all departments.
Here are some potential questions you can ask your mentor:
  • Can you review my resume/personal statement/etc.?
  • How do you decide which schools to apply to?
  • Should I reach out to faculty?
  • What is graduate school like?
That is completely okay!  Many of our mentors were not sure about graduate school as well.  As long as you are considering it as a potential option, you are welcome to participant in the EGA program.
The time commitment can be what works best for you. If you only want to meet a couple of times throughout the fall that is okay, if you want to meet with your mentor once a week that is okay too.
Once you are matched with your mentor, you will each be given each other’s email address. You will likely meet with your mentor through zoom although in-person meetings may be possible if you are local to Durham NC. Individual mentors may choose to exchange phone numbers as well.
