This is a short guide for incoming Singaporean freshmen on preparing for and getting started at Duke University. We hope to provide more tips and guidance tailored to Singaporean freshmen, so as to ease their transition to Duke.
We would like to make clear that the opinions presented in this document are mostly that of the editors with various inputs from the Singaporean/Malaysian upperclassmen population at Duke. We hope that this document prepares you well for your time in Duke. If you encounter any serious difficulties, don’t hesitate to talk to upperclassmen, as they might have gone through a similar experience before.
Annually, we host a Freshmen Welcome Dinner in Singapore before you come to Duke and also a Freshmen Picnic on the first Saturday of school. These events will serve as a good opportunity for you to further clarify any questions you have after reading the Freshman FAQ. We understand that as incoming freshmen, you may feel daunted by all the information there is out there, but don’t worry, we are here to help! Feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.
