The Department of Medicine is looking for a faculty member from the division of General Internal Medicine to sit as a standing member in the Institutional Review Board. The commitment pays $10K per year for 50 hours of service during the year. This funding can be received as as additional money or protected time. It is an outstanding learning opportunity and potential career development opportunity for those interested in research.
The position involves doing timely reviews of eIRB submission, including reviewing submission materials, asking relevant questions of the Principal Investigators, helping to determine status of the project (e.g. waived, exempt, expedited, full review) and working with the IRB to see proposals make it through the process.
