Smoking cessation programs face two challenges: being effective and being accessible to a broad audience. James M. Davis, MD, was the lead author of a new study that addressed both of these difficulties. Davis and colleagues tested a mindfulness-based tobacco cessation program delivered through web-based videos and phone coaching. The program improved participants’ anxiety and mindfulness and resulted in a 15.4% cessation rate at 6 months. The full study is available in the latest issue of BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine.
