Corrine Ione Voils, PhD has been promoted to Full Professor of Medicine by the Duke University School of Medicine Board of Trustees, effective May 1, 2014! Corrine’s appointment to this highest academic rank reflects her continuous exemplary scholarship, the profound impact of her work to improve human health, and the superbly high esteem she has garnered as a preeminent scholar among her peers nationally and internationally.
Corrine is an acclaimed behavioral and health services researcher who has devoted her career to identifying the psychosocial variables associated with treatment adherence, developing theoretically informed self-management interventions, and measuring medication adherence. She is the principal investigator of VA and non-VA funded studies, and her work has been recognized nationally and internationally. She was recently elected as a Fellow of the Society of Behavioral Medicine, a distinction recognizing outstanding contributions to the advancement of the science and practice of behavioral medicine. Corrine is also a nationally recognized mentor and teacher. She fulfills key leadership roles in GIM fellowship and faculty development programs and she has a prestigious faculty post at the NIH Summer Institute on Randomized Behavioral Clinical Trials.
