Membership Eligibility
Almost anyone is eligible to join DCBD, as per Duke Sport Club rules. According to their regulations, “any member of the Recreational Facilities and who have paid the current recreational fee can join a Sport Club”. This includes undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty, among others.
Membership Privileges
Members of DCBD are entitled to all the services covered by the dues they pay, including classes, performances, costumes, socials, and coverage of competition fees. Members are also entitled to one vote on club ballots.
Lessons
We offer classes 3x a week for members of the club. For more details about the classes, please reach out to us!
- Fall 2024:
- Tuesday, 7:15-10:15 PM, Brodie MPR (American Smooth and Rhythm)
- Thursday, 7:15-9:15 PM, Wilson 125 (International Standard and Latin)
- Saturday, 4:30-6:30 PM, Move with Grace (Open Coaching)
Club Fees
For the 2024-25 school year, DCBD will have two semesterly dues tiers. If membership costs are prohibitive, please reach out to us to explore options regarding payment plans and/or scholarships.
Tier 1 for $100/Semester includes access to:
- All Performances
- All Socials
- Open Practice Session
- Wednesdays 7:15 – 10:15 PM in Wilson 125
- Syllabus Group Lessons at Newcomer, Bronze, and Silver Levels
- 3 Local Competitions
- Bullfighters Ball on Oct 19 (a home competition hosted by DCBD)
- Triangle Open on Nov 16 (hosted by NCSU)
- Carolina Open on Feb 3 (hosted by NCSU)
Tier 2 for $200/Semester includes access to:
- Everything from Tier 1
- Advanced Open Coaching Sessions (Saturdays 4:30 – 6:30 PM at Move With Grace)
- Special Workshops
- Regional/National & Multi-Day Competitions
- Carolina Fall Classic (Charlotte, NC): Oct 4-5
- Gamecock (hosted by University of South Carolina): Oct 26
- DC DanceSport Inferno (hosted by University of Maryland): Nov 3-4
- Southeastern (Atlanta, GA): Feb 16-17
- USA Dance Nationals (Pittsburgh, PA): Mar 28-30
