Trinity Technology Services recently requested a demonstration of Polycom’s new device CX5100 Unified Conference Station
The Polycom CX5100 unit gets positioned in the middle of a table with participants sitting around it. The many cameras and mirrors inside the device captures video and stitches the live images together like a film strip. It then transmits the signal to far end participants via USB connection to a computer running Microsoft Lynx. Unfortunately we could not get this unit to work in our environment due to the fact that Microsoft Lynx is not currently supported at Duke.
We will continue to look at other devices that can be supported in our infrastructure.
