3M Streaming Projector Powered by Roku

By: Todd Stabley

This new ultra compact projector by 3M got some attention at Streaming Media West this year and I wanted to pass it along.

It’s only 4.3” x 4.2” x 2.0” and throws an image from 6″ to up to 120″ across (diagonal). It uses either a rechargeable battery that lasts 1.5 hrs. in standard mode, or can be plugged in for continuous use.

The new thumb-drive size Roku Streaming Stick™ is included in the package, which suggests that its target market is the home entertainment sector. (One use case the company thinks will be big is college students wanting to watch video in their dorms.) I’d be interested in hearing back from any of you, however, if you think a device like this might be of use to you in an academic environment

The projector has a brightness of up to 60 lumens and a built-in speaker and audio out for external speakers or headphones. List price is $300.00.  You can find more information about the  3M™ Streaming Projector  here: http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/ConsumerProjectors/Home/Product/StreamingProjector/
