BOOST Alumni Reunion Celebrates a Growing Community of STEM Pathways and Inclusion
On May 3rd, the Great Hall of the Duke School of Medicine was filled with warmth, energy, and shared purpose as 25 alumni and current participants gathered for BOOST’s annual Alumni Reunion. This event brought together pioneers from BOOST’s inaugural cohort (2004–2007), current Junior Coaches-in-Training (high school 9th graders), and Coaches (college undergraduates and graduate students) in a vibrant celebration of community, growth, and opportunity. Celebrating a 20-Year Legacy of Boosting Student Interest in STEM
“Twenty years ago, Dr. Brenda Armstrong started this program because she had a vision for our young folks,” said Douglass Coleman, program director for BOOST. “Middle school is a time when our young people start deciding that science is not for them. This program convinces them that there is space for them and that we’re going to make space and opportunity for them. Dr. Armstrong would be proud.” Read more here.
