Long ago, aka 1995 and 1996, then freshman Samantha Wood and senior Frannie Goodrich played for an open ultimate team. Frannie eventually graduated in ’96, but Sam went on to found Duke’s women’s ultimate team, Xena, later that year.
Xena was named after the show “Xena: Warrior Princess.” However, in the fall of ’99 or ’01, the team changed its name to Chakra. In late 2012, the team briefly changed it name again, but to Disc Jockeys. Tbh, that didn’t last very long. Less than a month later, the team felt inspired by a hat that Dani Replogle owned and wore with great frequency.
