New Software Release: PDF Studio 9

PDF Studio Pro 9 is now available through OIT.

If you already have a current license for PDF Studio Pro 8 on your computer, you may upgrade to the newest version at no cost.

If you purchased your software online with a credit card, visit the OIT Software website and click ‘View software you have ordered’.  Log in with the netID used to purchase the software, and you will be able to scroll down to your PDF Studio Pro (single user) order and view the activation key and software download for the newest version.  If you purchased offline, for example with IR or check, send your ticket number to site@duke.edu, and we will send you the latest version via e-mail.

New licenses for PDF Studio Pro may be purchased for $15 each.  Each license allows a single user to install the software on up to 2 personal computers. If a newer version comes out during your license term, you may upgrade to that version without having to purchase another license.  Our PDF Studio licenses will expire on July 30, 2014, and the software must be renewed annually.

PDF Studio is an all-in-one, easy to use PDF software that provides all PDF features needed at a fraction of the cost of Adobe® Acrobat® and other PDF editors. PDF Studio maintains full compatibility with the PDF Standard.  It is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

New Software Release: Maple 18

Maple 18 has been released and is now available.  Duke faculty and staff may download Maple software at no cost and use it on Duke-owned and personally-owned computers for Duke purposes.  Students may purchase a personal perpetual license for $35 through OIT.

Maple is a powerful interactive computer algebra system that provides a complete mathematical environment for the manipulation of symbolic algebraic expressions, arbitrary-precision numerics, both two-dimensional and three-dimensional graphics, and programming.

Articulate Storyline Licensing Now Available for Purchase through OIT

OIT has entered into a volume license agreement with Articulate software, and licenses of Articulate Storyline are now available for purchase through OIT for $420 per license.  This is around 70% off of the normal price of $1398. Articulate Storyline is e-learning authoring product that allows you to create interactive online and mobile courses.

Licenses are perpetual and do not expire.  Each license purchase includes a license for Storyline, Replay, and the Volume 1 Character Bundle.  You can visit the Articulate web site for a free 30-day trial of the software if you want to try it out before purchasing.

New Software Available: FastX

A new product is available as part of our site license for Starnet’s X-Win 32: FastX.

FastX is a simple PC X server solution. FastX allows you to connect over the Internet and work with even the most demanding remote hosted Linux and Unix applications at LAN speed. FastX sessions are persistent (you can reconnect after a network interruption) and secure.  See Starnet’s FastX FAQ for information on how it compares to X-Win 32.

The OIT Labs license server has not been updated to work with FastX.  A Node-Locked key (available on the download page) must be used.  If you cannot use a node-locked key, you will have to continue using X-Win 32.

OIT has acquired an unlimited, enterprise-wide license for DisplayFusion Pro, and it is available to Duke faculty, staff, and students at no cost.

Papers Licenses Now Available

OIT Software Licensing is now offering discounted licenses for Papers.

Treesize Pro 6.0.2 and SQL Server 2012 with SP1 Now Available

The newest version of Treesize Professional, 6.0.2 is now available, and SQL Server 2012 with SP1 is now being distributed as the default version.

Also, as a reminder, the premium version of LastPass, a password management software, is now available at no cost to Duke faculty, staff, and students.  This is strongly recommended for everyone.
