OIT Software Licensing

The Autodesk software download pages have been updated significantly.  There are now two distribution pages:

1. Autodesk Institutional Licensing
2. Autodesk for Student and Faculty Personal Computers

Students and faculty wanting to install Autodesk on personally-owned computers for personal educational usage will now access the software directly from the vendor’s education portal.

All institutional software has been broken out into different suite packages for more efficient downloading, and users can now install the entire suite(s) at once without having to download each individual product separately.

The suite packages have also been added to the OIT Software Licensing NAS share for network installation to save time since no downloading and extracting files is needed.

Finally, there were several Mac packages on the old sites that did not activate properly with our serial numbers.  Those have been removed, but there are also numerous additional products that are available for request.  Most Autodesk software is only available for Windows 64-bit.

A new think-cell license key is available.  It will expire on 7/31/15.  A new key will be available within 2 weeks of its expiration.

think-cell is a Microsoft Office add-in which integrates seamlessly with PowerPoint and helps you to visualize complex charts like Marimekko, Gantt and waterfall within minutes. Free licenses of think-cell are available for Duke students and researchers. Visit the think-cell website for more information.

OIT has entered into a volume license agreement with Articulate software, and licenses of Articulate Storyline 2 are now available for purchase through OIT for $700 per license.  This purchase includes a perpetual license of Storyline 2 with the platinum membership plan, which includes a free upgrade to Storyline 3 when it is released.

The platinum membership plan includes the following:

This software will expire on January 1, 2016.  NVivo is software that supports qualitative and mixed methods research. It lets you collect, organize, and analyze content from interviews, focus group discussions, surveys, audio – and now in NVivo 10 – social media and web pages.

With NVivo you can deeply analyze your data using powerful search, query and visualization tools. Uncover subtle connections, add your insights and ideas as you work, rigorously justify findings, and effortlessly share your work.

We offer NVivo 10 only. Both 32-bit and 64-bit versions are available for Windows.  We also offer the Mac version.

Our volume license agreement for GraphPad Prism has been renewed, and as of today, licenses purchased through OIT will expire on January 24, 2016.

If you purchased a license after October 23, 2014, you have been sent a renewal license.

Duke’s classroom licenses have been updated for JetBrains products, and the new expiration date is October 20, 2015.  JetBrains has granted Duke University a campus-wide classroom-use license for the following IDE and IDE extension products:

• IntelliJ IDEA (Java)
• PhpStorm (PHP)
• WebStorm (JavaScript)
• RubyMine (Ruby)
• ReSharper (Visual Studio/.NET)
• PyCharm (Python)

The classroom license allows the software to be used at no cost in support of classroom instruction.
